Each May, at the end of the school year, the Republican Women of Prescott’s Scholarship Committee identifies the 2019 RWOP Scholarship recipients.  We are proud to be able to offer awards to eleven amazing and impressive students this year.  RWOP celebrates the exceptional academic and extra-curricular accomplishments of these outstanding young adults who represent the future of our great nation!

Your Scholarship program is made possible by RWOP’s yearly fundraising where many of our members contributed as well as a generous endowments by club member, Peg Rhodes. For 2019, RWOP approved $15,000 to support this very integral part of RWOP’s mission which is to educate and inform...in this case, educating and informing our future leaders!

As with any big project, there is so much that happens behind the scenes.  The Scholarship Committee members work hard from October when they call for applications until May when they present the awards.  Your Scholarship Committee was pleased to receive 20 applications this year, representing several local high schools. This year’s committee members are: Ann Brechwald (co-chair), Evelyn Giunta, Barbara Ernst, Micki Warburton, Jeff Hubley and Linda Nichols (Chair).

RWOP’s scholarship program is strictly merit-based...each applicant’s scores are based upon the following:

  • A 500 word-essay...this year’s topic was “The Power of Bureaucracy?”
  • A 150 word-biography which allows us to take into consideration their extra-curricular activities
  • Academic transcripts - which in many cases include H.S as well as college credits
  • A Letter of Recommendation
  • And an in-person interview for the fifteen semi-finalists

Through this process, it was a pleasure to meet and work with these truly incredible young adults!

Two of our finalists, Katie Bower and Addie Daniels, presented their school experience, community involvement and future plans in separate presentations at our May luncheon.

The Republican Women of Prescott’s Scholarship Committee and the Board of Directors, are very proud to welcome these well-deserving, local high school graduates as recipients of RWOP’s Annual Scholarship Program!
