PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Hello Republican Women of Prescott,
I hope you all had a blessed Christmas and New Year’s holiday with family and friends.
As I contemplate 2023, I look back on 2022 with thankfulness and pride on the accomplishments RWOP made this year. I am thankful for my Board of Directors that bonded together to go in a new direction that led RWOP to achieve all the goals we set out for ourselves at the start of 2022. I have an extreme amount of pride on how each of my Board members, along with you our members and team member volunteers who participated and supported us along the way, played a pivotal role in our success of our goals set out at the start of 2022.
Our vision of success along with reinforced camaraderie, building alliances with other local Republican clubs, while preserving the exceptional culture that RWOP is known for, catapulted RWOP to regain its title of “Largest Federated Republican Women’s Club, not only in Arizona, but our Nation." We ended 2022 with a membership count of 1,087 members. Thank you to RWOP’s Membership team for working together and accomplishing such a great outcome. Also, thank you to you our members for renewing or joining our club for the first time and for recruiting your family and friends to join RWOP!!
Not being able to hold our Main Event for the past three years due to COVID and lingering effects, RWOP’s Ways & Means teams of 2019, 2020 and 2021 worked hard to hold fundraising events to help financially support our club, again, with you our members stepping up to attend each event in large numbers! I want to welcome Michele Hamer, RWOP’s 2023 2nd VP of Ways & Means to our Board knowing she will pick up the mantle leading our fundraising efforts. Michele is very involved in our community and brings her knowledge of managing community fundraisers to RWOP. Welcome Michele!
Also, new to our Executive board is Cynthia McSwain, RWOP’s 2023 Secretary. Cynthia brings enthusiasm and record keeping experience to her position. Welcome Cynthia! RWOP’s other 2023 Executive Board members, including myself, Judy Blake, Heather Densmore, Sue Tatar, Joan Lesko, Jill Martin, Linda Nichol’s and Elsie Tyree are all looking forward to working together in 2023, and with Michele and Cynthia, to achieve our programs, education and other important 2023 goals while keeping RWOP’s well respected reputation in our city, state and nation!!
Regarding the 2022 November election, I am as disappointed as all of you were when the “Republican Red Wave” fizzled here in Arizona and around the country. However, here in Yavapai County we did our job and kept Yavapai County red! I am currently and have been for many years, a precinct committeewoman with our Yavapai County Republican Party. Never have I seen so many precinct committeemen involved with our current county party and a large portion of them are RWOP members and associate members. I know our Yavapai County precinct committeemen made the difference in keeping Yavapai County red! Thank you all for working hard and being involved! Our Arizona GOP state committee members will be electing our state party chairman in Phoenix this month and as a state committeewoman, I will be traveling to Phoenix to participate in that election. This will be a critical election to elect the individual who will lead our state Republican Party into the future. Locally, in order to protect our children, RWOP will continue to be involved in the PUSD Governing Board meetings to support our Republican PUSD Governing Board members, monitor their activities and work to keep the woke agenda and politics of the Left out of our schools. We currently have a group of retired teachers and administrators reviewing the Social Studies curriculum the PUSD board will be voting on to approve or disapprove. This curriculum could potentially be in place for the next twenty years so it is critical PUSD picks a solid curriculum that supports America and American values.
This year will also see Prescott City Council elections. RWOP will be actively involved vetting the Republican candidates. We must be sure we support CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANS in their quest for office. We know what happens when cities, towns and states elect leftists into office and the destructive policies they institute can destroy beautiful cities like Prescott.
With more club news, RWOP's Merchandise will not be available for sale at January's luncheon. With the holidays and the end of 2022, the Board felt this might be a good time to take a break and re-group. Look for RWOP's Merchandise to be available for sale at our February luncheon.
In closing, I ask that you all please stay involved with RWOP and your local Republican Party. We have strength in numbers! RWOP will continue to bring informative speakers on important topics in our community along with Prescott City Council candidates to speak at our luncheons. We will keep you informed along with pertinent educational programs in which you can participate. I am so grateful for your support and positive comments you have given me over the past year. It inspires me and our Board to keep moving forward. It might seem like an insurmountable problem right now but we intend to keep fighting to protect our families, our city and our county! Stay Strong!
I look forward to seeing you all at our luncheons!
